Though a challenging endeavor, Peace on Earth is possible… and it’s coming. Since my first peace mission across the U.S. in 2013, much has changed. People are waking up, becoming engaging and taking action for what they believe. Today, the soil is ripe for pioneering peace activists and peace journalists to rock the world!
We are seeing firsthand that as a wise man once wrote, “There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.” We are not “anti” anyone or anything. We are for peace — and all the good it can bring to each human being on the planet.
Can we say that we have lived life to the fullest and given everything we’ve got, if we do not attempt to bring about peace — if not for us then for our children and ancestors? We have the resources and technology.
The resolve to make peace the #1 priority on the planet rests with us.
I know I cannot sit by and wait. I have taken a “Personal Vow For Peace” that no matter what anyone else does in this world, I am going to stand up for peace and for the rights of the people. That is why I’ve launched #TripForPeace, a peace journalism adventure across America to showcase peacebuilders in action.
I’m hitting the road again on March 27 to help change the dialogue from war to peace. There are many peacebuilding projects happening all across America. People just don’t know about them — yet. #TripForPeace is just one of the many organizations actively working for peace.
The notion that war is a economic necessity is a myth
Insisting on #peace is not only laudable, it also makes economic sense. According to the Organization for Economic and Cooperative Development (OECD), violence containment costs the global economy $14.3 trillion each year — 13% of global GDP. This makes violence containment one of the largest industries in the world.
Violence and violent conflict, rather than natural disasters, are now the primary driver of forced displacement and migration worldwide. It’s time we move beyond conflict and toward nonviolence.
No doubt, we are seeing the effects of a violent culture in our schools and on our streets.
A Return To Love – Marianne Williamson
The shift is happening. In her 1996 book, A Return To Love, author Marianne Williamson boldly claimed: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” As such, perhaps people on Earth are just arriving into adulthood, and coming into their own power — spiritually and otherwise.
Still though, many people believe that it takes millions of people over a long period of time to produce a great shift on Earth — like peace — and that a single person cannot make much of a difference in changing the fate of the world for the better. This simply is not true.
The fact is that everyone is connected to everyone else, and all that must be achieved for universal change is for the momentum to build enough to create a tipping point for good. Each person makes this so every day from the inside out. Each person can challenge him/herself to learn and grow as each personal realization is literally a realization for the planet.
In 1975, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi published a paper based on his research that “predicted that one percent of a population practicing internal peace would produce measurable improvements in the quality of life for the whole population.” At that time, the phenomenon was named “the Maharishi Effect.”
The Divine Matrix – Gregg Braden
In his 2007 book, The Divine Matrix — Bridging Time, Space, Miracles and Belief, scientist and New York Times best-selling author Gregg Braden validated and expanded on this same basic principle of the Universe unknown to most. His research was focused on identifying how many people “must share the inner experience of peace before peace is mirrored in the world.” Braden’s research found that the number is the square root of one percent of Earth’s population. It takes just 8,944 out nearly 8 billion people practicing peace on Earth — rather than supporting continual war by default — to get the change process rolling.
Braden also found that “the more people practicing peace, the faster the outward effect.” This equation and principle can indeed be a groundbreaking tool to influence real change on Earth, especially in such an active and interconnected social media environment. Let us use #techforgood.
The bottom line: All change is spiritual, then the physical materializes. The same will be true for peace. The status quo have no incentive to change things for the better of all people. The people must lead the way to peace because they hold the power. I am one of many creating a “vehicle” for this shift.
